Climate change threatens the ecological integrity and livelihoods in the MRS. It is urgent to implement measures that increase the adaptive capacity of ecosystems in the face of rising temperatures and extreme weather events.
MAR Fund leads a regional approach that combines nature-based solutions and innovative financial mechanisms. Through the Climate Change program, we strengthen the resilience of coral reefs and execute large-scale mangrove restoration projects, thereby protecting the natural barriers of our region.

The Reef Rescue Initiative (RRI) aims to increase the resilience and recovery capacity of the MAR and the environmental services it provides, helping to develop the human capacity, regulatory environment, and financial sustainability needed to carry out solid, effective, and timely science-based coral reef conservation and restoration.
