Organizational Structure

As a private, participatory fund, the Board of Directors comprises donors, experts, and representatives from the national funds of each country within the Mesoamerican Reef System. Each of the four funds has a permanent representative on the board. Additionally, the Board includes a representative from the Central American Commission for Environment and Development, recognized experts from each participating country, and up to seven representatives from the international donor community.

To ensure optimal performance and strategic decision-making, the staff and board are supported by six committees: Communications, Governance, Investments, Audit, Proposal Review and Evaluation, and Development.

Since its inception, MAR Fund has been a lean organization led by an Executive Director, supported by a Strategic Advisor and the Technical and Administrative teams. Accounting services are outsourced.
